Work Choice

Work Choice is a government-funded programme that aims to assist individuals with disabilities and long-term health problems to:

  • Find and maintain long term employment
  • Retain employment with a current employer when at serious risk of losing their job

Work Choice’s aim is to match the disabled person to a suitable job and provide a flexible support programme that meets the need of both employee and employer. Work Choice enables individuals to work within a commercial environment, providing the possibility to progress into open employment where appropriate.CLARITY and Work Choice

Under the Work Choice programme, CLARITY has developed an Intermediate Labour Market (ILM) model of employment. We offer in-house, short term employment contracts together with embedded support to give disabled people the opportunity to gain impactful employment and skills, preparing them for the next step into mainstream employment (supported or unsupported).

CLARITY also supports those furthest from mainstream employment, who require a higher degree of intervention. We can provide longer term, sustainable employment for those unable to make the step into mainstream employment within a short period of time. This offers an opportunity for employment regardless of the complexity of a person’s barriers.

Moving On

While unemployment affects everyone, employment for those with complex disabilities currently stands at 1 in 10. The barriers to employment for disadvantaged people, including barriers that are only based on assumptions, can be overwhelming and grow worse with long-term exposure to unemployment.

If you would like to apply for a job with CLARITY contact the Disability Employment Advisor (DEA) at your local Jobcentre Plus. They will assess whether you are eligible for the Work Choice programme which is a prerequisite for all Work Visions candidates.

We offer our disabled staff a stepping stone to mainstream employment, providing workplace and employability training to give individuals the skills and confidence to compete in the open employment market.

We advocate the employment of disabled people in the workplace and a CLARITY employee develops a wide range of skills during their time with us, to prepare them well for the next step in their careers.
